Resveratrol – Here’s to healthy ageing

Resveratrol is a powerful super strength antioxidant.  Resveratrol is specifically designed to aid the bodies resistance against oxidation and minimising free radical damage.

Main benefits are increased energy, longevity, endurance and weight management.

Large amounts of antioxidants is linked to the French Paradox. The French suffer low occurences of heart disease despite having a diet high in saturated fat. The belief is that they consume high amounts of antioxidants from the wine that they drink. 200mg of Resveratrol is equal in antioxidants to approximately 290 glasses of red wine.

J is on 2000mg of resveratrol a day and has been feeling great. I am taking 500mg and am also feeling good. We haven’t noticed too much happening but I think most of the work is being done internally.  Although we seem to bounce back quicker from late night dinner and drinks :)

J and I have been vegetarian now for about 5 months and have been feeling amazing, this is the single most important decision we have ever made. We have not been sick since giving up eating meat, even though we have been exposed to sick children and relatives. We have never been through a winter without getting sick at least once.

Here’s to healthy ageing…

Unexpected Benefits…..

I must explain a bit of background first to tell you the unexpected benefits I have received from Piracetam.  3 1/2 years ago while pregnant with our second child, I got Bells Palsy.  For those of you who do not know what Bells Palsy is it is the inflammation of the seventh cranial nerve which cause facial paralysis.  I could not move half of my face and I remember at the time I thought I was having a stroke.  Now 3 1/2 years later I have partial facial movement but I still have a way to go.

Well after taking Piracetam for 2 days I have noticed more movement in my forehead, cheek and mouth. It has really blown me away because I have seen several specialist over the years and they have not been able to do anything for me.

When I noticed more movement I was quite emotional because it has been a long road to recovery.

I also have an appointment on Friday for a filler in my cheeks, since losing weight I have noticed the fat in my face disappear quite quickly.  I will let you know about the procedure….. Have a great day!

It’s all about the brain….Piracetam

Super excited today. We just got a parcel delivered that we have been waiting for all week.

Piracetam which is a supplement to improve mental clarity, cognitive function and is given to alcoholics to protect their brains from alcohol abuse. Piracetam falls under the heading smart drugs. It may be possible to fight off the effects of ageing on the brain including Alzheimer’s and short-term memory loss.

We have researched this on the internet etc and we would strongly advise people to do a lot of research before entering into any supplements. Piracetam is not a prescription drug it is a dietary supplement and is available to buy on the internet and is allowed through customs.

J has just taken his first dose which is 1.5 grams, he said he felt alert, could focus more easily on a task and is in a good mood. We will keep blogging about the future effects of this supplement. (J said he will taking this supplement for life…….mmmmmm)

Getting Older……

Getting older doesn’t scare me, but the illnesses and quality of life as we age does. I don’t believe that it has to be this way.

I am not a doctor and don’t claim to be a doctor this is merely a diary of what my husband (J) and I are doing to combat the ageing process on a personal level.

We started this journey with J’s aunty getting breast cancer at the age of 51. As we looked into diet as part of her treatment, we were amazed at the stories of diet and diseases and the link between the two.

Eventually this path lead us to read a book called “The China Study” by Colin Campbell. Quite simply this book will change your life if you really sit down and read it. It is not an easy book to read and it has a lot of scientific data that you must sieve through. But it is the most significantly important book I have ever read.

We have since changed our diet to a low animal protein diet, as is similar to traditional japanese and chinese diets. Not the high animal protein diets of western countries.

Changing our diet has been challenging in the way that we have had to question what we believed to be healthy and the fact that what we have grown up believing, is not the truth when it comes to diet.

This is our journey so fasten your seatbelt this is going to be the ride of our life……
